ChryedCon has now happened!
We have raised over £1,000 for Stonewall and Imaan (Update 15.11.12: final total raised of £1,093.38, divided equally between the two charities) and had a fantastic weekend, full of fun, laughter, tears, and a wee bit of proper normal Chryedian bonkersness.
Thank you so much to everyone who attended and made it such a success; the committee and volunteers for all their hard work; everyone who ran or contributed to a panel; everyone who donated an item to the Charity Auction and everyone who bid on items or donated money.
Special thanks to:
- Yusef Gojikian, Welfare Officer of Imaan, for giving up his free time and for his informed and inspirational talk; and Tawseef Khan, Chair of Imaan, for his enthusiasm and help.
- Richard Davidson for speaking so eloquently and passionately about Chryed and EastEnders (again, in his free time), and for his contribution of two signed scripts to our Charity Auction.
- Pete Lawson and Daisy Coulam for their email contributions and all their help and encouragement.
- Marc Elliott and John Partridge for signing pictures for the Auction and for their interest and support.
ChryedCon took place on 27-28th October 2012, at the Novotel London City South hotel. For more details about the event, take a look around the site or read the FAQs.
In 2009, British soap EastEnders plunged into new territory as devout Muslim Syed Masood fell for party boy Christian Clarke – and what followed was a love story that transcended cultural boundaries, wrestled with faith and sexuality and, eventually, taught its audience the true value of being yourself.
Three years on, that storyline has amassed a large, dedicated and diverse fanbase. It is for this fanbase that ChryedCon was created.
ChryedCon is also working in conjunction with charities Stonewall and Imaan, and the event raised over £1,000 for our two chosen charities. Further information about these organisations can be found on our ‘Charities’ page.
